Ive been using this app since early 2010 and have loved it up until I installed the latest update today. I miss that when choosing an account to pay from it used to be in alphabetical order. When you have as many accounts as I do, selecting from the new sort order is a nightmare

App was great on previous versions but since last update (07/14/16) app doesnt even open for iOS 7 users (at least on the IPhone)

Problem now. Cannot open after last update. Same problem with many users. Fix it please. I am using it for many years Oble

I find that when I am entering an expense that needs to be split between categories, its hard to keep up with (if there are more than two categories.) Couldnt we enter our total receipt, and then as we enter each category, see how much of the total is remaining?

I have tried nearly all the finance apps on the AppStore, but none come to having the best but simple functionality as this. Unlike other apps, this has a bills and expense tracker combo, which is great. You dont need to have 2 separate apps. The only reason for a 4-star is because they only allow bills to be entered from the past 5 years. Id like to enter bills earlier than that but it currently does not support it. Once it does, Ill update my rating!

I have used HomeBudget since 2014 and I have also downloaded/purchased ALL expense trackers on the App Store that I can find and also tried many PC software. As of July 2016 the count is at 124. I would consider myself an expert in home budget and the only features I dont use are Family sync, forecast and bills. The bottom line is if you want a razor accurate expense tracker that you enter data yourself, this is unquestionably the best one by a large margin. Life changing is the only way to describe HomeBudget. The interface is colorful, well designed and overall gorgeous. It is abundantly clear that everything is placed with deep thought. I even imported custom icons from the web! I cant tell you how many hundreds if not thousands of dollars I have saved from this app. Please buy it and support the author. I keep telling him to charge us for major upgrades to speed development, but he seems against that idea. Take my money!! I along with many other fanatic home budget users want to see its continued, rapid development. July 2016- I now store my receipts on OneNote but the ability to delete receipts in the newest version is a very welcome addition! it might be my imagination but things looks smaller as well and perhaps the font changed? Overall, it looks outstanding! Some things home budget really needs: 1) clean up pie grasp interface. Most of the graphs are not very useful in my opinion. Its nice to see but the percentage should also be listed on the bottom. Also some of the graphs are "Movable" which is a little awkward. A finger swipe moves the interface. 2) quick summary changes-- calculate percentage saved and spent for look back time period when running reports. This is really a big deal for me as I imagine a lot of us try to shoot for saving a percentage of our income. I currently do this manually :( Also it would be great if quick summary would have a "all data" listing under the year quick summary. I have completed data since 2014 so its nice not to have to see this quickly. 3) iPhone 6s Force-touch feature for adding expenses, income, etc... This is admittedly overdue. 4) black or dark theme . This is also badly needed for those of us who have sensitive eyes. I wonder if Apple is bringing this in the future? It seems like a trend and currently the only workaround is to use invert colors assigned to triple home click on accessibility settings. This Is an inelegant solution, however. 5) I love empty space, but there is a lot of wasted white space on my iPhone 6! Not sure if this is done intentionally to make it easier to support older low res phones but it seems crazy how much room is wasted! 6) make notes section in expenses a little larger! In its current iteration, I am extremely pleased. I have saved so much money by tracking my expense spending in relation to my income. I have my budget now and I add all purchases to home budget immediately and try to titrate my purchases accordingly to meet my goal. Support is very prompt and considerate with their responses. One things wish is to charge again for the app so development is accelerated :) I hate paying for apps again and again, except for apps that are truly the highest quality and this is one of them. I love this app. I like how I can categorize expenses, set up bills (and it automatically makes them an expense when I mark them paid), I like having all my accounts and being able to transfer money between them so it doesnt cause redundancy. However my only dislike is that when I set up in my budget to put money into savings, the only way to do that and keep my account balances correct is to transfer money from checking to savings (which is in reality what I do obviously), however when you transfer money there is no option to categorize that so it never shows that Ive used that money in my budget. Therefore my overall budget says I have X amount of money left, when in reality Ive moved that money to another account where I dont want to touch it. I just keep an eye on it, but it would be nice to have an option to account for a budget item when transferring money between accounts.

Crappy account setup and UI is difficult. Requiring manual setup of accounts and designed for manual entry of expenses is arcane. Import of bank account did not work and no solutions are provided. A very poorly designed app in todays world of online access to detailed transaction data. You really expect me to re-enter all of this stuff thats already available if youll just link properly? Ive got news for you...

This app has been an amazing tool for our family budget. It is clean, user friendly and the sync feature works much better than other apps that I have used. I have had to contact customer support several times and they have always been SUPER helpful. Someone usually responds within 24 hrs of your request and are very friendly. I would recommend this app to anyone!

If youre looking for an app that will help you take control of your finances save money and understand in detail where your money is being spent this is the app for you!!! Get it now! Takes work but your financial stability will be better for it!

The calendar recurring bill doesnt work. I can add as many recurring bills as I can, but when I check the calendar to see my bills, the bills are missing.

I was excited to use the app and get serious about budget tracking. The calendar function does not work correctly for recurring income. I initially downloaded the lite version and when I encountered the problem, I upgraded to the full version. I now have the same problem plus I am now missing drop down options when setting up accounts. Ill give it one more try but think Im moving on to a different budget app.

Has all the basic features, easy to understand, family/group sync works (most of the time). I like being able to put in recurring invoices that show up every month to remind me to pay them. Downsides - Price (you have to pay for mobile & the desktop version separately) - Sync sometimes doesnt work - support isnt the best

Ive been using this App for 4 years and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. The "family user guide is 5 years old" 1. Devices wont sync with home device and very sporadic when they do 2. As to the calendar issue...you cant schedule anything after the 28th because of Feb. the app is to stupid to make exceptions for days in the month so it rolls anything over and you end up with a bunch of bills on the 1st. 3. Its not a user friendly app, recurring bill edit will cause duplicate entries and you will find yourself deleting 2 years worth of bills. 4. The infinite option doesnt work when creating a recurring bill, the bills wont show on the calendar. You have to give every bill a 2yr end date. 5. When your other IOS devices decide to sync they will send expense or bills paid to the home device but anything done on the home device wont reciprocate and your hand held wont update. 6. Dont even get me started on the PC version. I could write 20 more issues but its time to scrap this Java monster and start from scratch. 7. Dont bother trying to connect your bank as this company isnt associated so the banks will not let them access your accounts. 8. You can find ways to make everything work thats broken but you have to do it creatively vs using the apps features. Keep looking, NOT AS ADVERTISED

I really love this app. It helps me a lot to keep my expenses and budget under control. Ive been using it for almost 2 years now and Ive never had any kind of problem with it. Data generated are accurate and it works perfectly. I highly recommend it. The only thing Id suggest to developers is to update graphical user interfaces, for example, the "Mint" app looks beautiful in your Ipad and Iphone, however, I still prefer Home Budget.

Dont rely on this AP to track your due dates. The family sync is un reliable if you use more than one device. Bills, amounts and due dates vanish mysteriously. Even those with a history of one+ years payments.

Id like to first say that app is totally worth the money, most of all for its very elegant and intuitive design, as well as very well thought system of organization a level of customization the allows users to really reach deep in to their financial situation, all on the tip of your fingers in very detailed manner… Couldnt praise it anymore than that, because that is all you need! Pls fix the date problem of not being able to set transactions after the 28th of each month!!! This needs to be fixed, since it is a steeply priced app…!

1- make categories n sub categories searchable. Finding the categories n sub categories on the go are just pain. Data entry should be fast n robust without pain of finding the right categories. 2- Make + button an icon near the bottom, easy to reach on plus iphone devices. 3- Sync just dont work for me

Ive noticed that syncing between devices doesnt always work. Accounts can be off by 40 expenses or more. Its very unclear how I got into this state but there was no way to fix it other than restoring from a backup. The other thing I would like is some representation of an investment account. Money goes in but it isnt an expense, and the value of that account can vary quite a bit. Currently there is no good representation of this kind of account and I find it rather frustrating.

We have really liked this app. Great that each of us can keep track in real time about how much money we have, because the app allows us both to enter expenses on our own phones and it syncs the info automatically.
