Password Lockout will drive u crazy

Ok app, needs to simplify basic data entry. Needs to allow more than 120 seconds before it prompts for the password, when temporary leaving the app, this is WAY TO SHORT, for this lock out feature kicking in when trying to work back and forth between this and my online banking app...

Been Using Daily Since 8/2011

I am happy to report that this app has been the most used app on my iOS devices for over 4 years now. Most 1 star reviews I have read are from lazy folks who cant be bothered to categorize their expenses and enter things manually. I enjoy the fact that this app is non-obtrusive and does not link directly to your bank account. I have been categorizing every receipt and know exactly how much my wife and I have spent on necessities and areas we should cut back on. This app is powerful because you can customize just how detailed you want to go with categories and sub-categories. Here is a hint - when you first start using this app just enter your starting balances and track expenses from that day forwards, dont feel overwhelmed by having to enter past expense history. This app gives me piece of mind in knowing knowing exactly whats going on and helps ,me find banking or overcharge errors.

A Love Hate Thing

I loved this app because it synced to mines and my husbands phones. I thought it would help him keep up with the balance in our checking account. I hate this app because I would have to keep re-sending him the information if he didnt open the app daily, and some times the app would crash, and I would have to delete it from my phone and re-download the app again. If I didnt e-mail myself the already saved data before it would crash, I would have to start all over again! I would have came out better spending my $6 at McDonalds

This app use to be useful... Now its useless

Previously I would have given this app 5 stars. The ability to track multiple accounts, recurring bills, etc was amazing coupled with the fact that I could directly import my bank transactions and simply categorize them with a few taps of the screen. To top it off, it synced between my 3 Apple devices!!! HOWEVER, sometime in the last year there was an update that basically has destroyed any ability whatsoever to link my bank account to the APP, this was probably my favorite feature, and now every time I try to relink it I receive an ERROR message. Ive become more than frustrated, and wish that an update would be done to correct this issue. I emailed the developer months ago with no response. So for now, 2 stars is a stretch.

Missing One HUGE Feature

I have had several finance apps, and this one is by far the best. The only thing I feel like this is missing is the widget. If they made a widget to where all I had to do was swipe down on my screen and enter my expense/income, that would make this app literally perfect.

Bugs & Enhancements required

The App is good, however slow and poor development on enhancement functions. Below are some features end users like me look forward. 1) Missing feature duplicate - expenses, Income, Bill, transfers on demand needs. 2) Search is very poor, Should use filters date, expenses / Bill / Transfers / Accounts / Notes etc. 3) Bug –if Sync duration is long between devices – doesn’t Updates or reflect Accounts transfer records. 4) Expenses needs to be linked to payees by Default when adding the expenses

Really useful

I hope you could add password with 4-digits numeric code or 6-digits numeric code. :-)

Linking Bank Accounts

Not being able to link bank accounts makes this app incredibly over priced and a chore to keep up with. Awful.

Dont waste you money or time

Ive been scouring the App Store searching for a rock-solid personal finance app with cash flow forecasting functionality. I came across Home Budget, and thought this would be the one. The app is well-organized, has a nice GUI, and is feature-rich. After buying the full-version, and spending hours importing and categorizing transactions, the app stopped working. I can do virtually nothing...app crashes and exits. I sent log and data files to developer, and received a "thank you...we will contact you shortly" email, but have heard NOTHING. My search continues...

A satisfied customer

Im using this app for over a year Im greatly satisfied with this. I had an issue with accessing my account from the computer I think theres no such an option but I started to email the full report at the end of every month and it works well. Id recommend this.

What happened??

Have loved this app for YEARS and all of a sudden when I change my budgeted amounts the budget calls displayed are a mess. Its displaying amounts spent but then history shows no transactions - the history is correct. Annual budgets are displaying in amounts one twelfth of the budgeted amount (Ive never tracked anything in the app on a monthly basis). Very strange behavior and Ive never had this issue before.

Simply..

Works!! Great, easy to use and intuitive interface. Inputting and organizing budgets, income, expenses, and bills is extraordinarily easy. Sync feature works flawlessly, just as expected!

One the Best

Been trying a few Apps in the couple of months searching for the perfect Finance App This one was not only cheap, but has all the basic features and more: Handle different currencies, Reports, Budget, Cloud and Device Sync This one is a winner

Everything I needed except a more automated reconciliation process

After twelve years of marriage, I was finally thinking that perhaps I now could replace my paper ledgers for my checking and savings accounts. With HomeBudget, I found for a way to have both of us to enter expenses on my Mac or our iPhones or iPads and have them synchronize. The Family Sync feature works well, uses minimal data, and does not drain the battery in the background. For security reasons, I did not want the mobile devices connected to the bank accounts, so I wanted to import OFX files and any other transactions manually. HomeBudget provides those features with a simple interface for entering expenses. If you do not want to enter your expenses manually, then you can import an OFX file and convert them into an expenses. Also, since you need to assign a budget category for each expense, you can see where your money is being spent. Reconciliation still requires manually checking for incorrectly entered expenses, forgotten expenses, and expenses not yet cleared. HomeBudget allows an easy entry of a detected forgotten transaction, but the other steps still seem to be manual. I manually compare unreconciled expenses on my iPad against the latest OFX import on my Mac. When processing imported OFX transactions one-by-one, I think that adding a selection to reconcile what HomeBudget proposes as an already existing expense would be very helpful.

Best Family Budget App

Download this app! I have looked for and used many free and paid budgeting apps. This is by far the best family budget app...dont waste your time with the free version. HomeBudget is also the aesthetic pleasing looking budget apps as well...nice and fresh. Love the sync feature! Now, my wife and I can be on the same page when it comes to our finances. Its vary customizable to meet your needs with categories! With many budget apps, there seems to be some latency once you start entering lots of information...but it seems to only do so at first startup. A couple suggestions: 1) Add more icons 2) Add predictive typing if it has already been entered into HomeBudget previously (I always have to re-type Paycheck, etc) 3) Add more types of reporting graphs, etc 4) Add more preference options for expenses (it always defaults to grouping...Id like to see options to set other defaults)

1 yr. wonder

This is a great app. Worked as advertised for one year. But when the year crossed the program would no longer sync properly, or reset all the categories created for the new year. I reached out for help ( via email, the only option as I recall or maybe I called as well - cant remember, but no response either way from the company. Now its just $30 wasted ( multiple devices ) and takes up space. A real disappointment. Find yourself another more mature application.

Love! This is almost exactly what I was looking for.

I LOVE the family sync feature which helps my husband and I keep up with our accounts. As well as attaching photo receipt with charge. The only reason I didnt give five stars is because it could be a little more user friendly, but its small things like choosing from a list of common payees instead of just typing it in or requiring a subcategory in addition to a category for charges. Overall, love it.

To complex

I have a budget complete with graphs on my PC... I need an app to plug in expenditures... No much more. If you are looking for fast and easy... This IS NOT for you.

Fabulous App To Get Control of Your Finances

Within a week we were in control of our finances. Its intuitive and well-designed. Bills paid become expenses made. You can see what your monthly budget should be; you can see what your recurring monthly outgoings are and you you can manage your cashflow by seeing whats going out and coming in. The sync function works well so all family members who spend or earn can be engaged in the process of managing your money rather than your money stressing you out. Its a really helpful app. Great job :)

Highly recommended

Very useful and easy to use. It can get better by 1) making subcategory optional. It is now mandatory 2) improve reporting by having a full report of expenses for a specific month 3) having more icons 4) adding notes to a recurring expense 3) having bills and accounts as an option. Not everyone needs them. I wish i could delete them. I dont use them 4) showingn spend items as percent of income not just vs budget or vs total spend. Thanks.
